This stunning room makeover by Sharon Laakkonen has the perfect amount of color, detail and coziness you could ever ask for. She used a variety of re·design Decor Transfers™ to bring all the pieces together for gorgeous results. Let’s take a look at what she did…
The walls in the Den got a fresh coat of paint and a shiplap accent wall was added. The walls were painted a creamy taupe to give it a fresh look and the color lends itself well for adding most decor accessories as well as accent colors…
The walls went up easily for a stunning look. Make sure you have the lines and ends staggering. The materials can be easily found at your local hardware store in a variety of shades and styles.
Now that the walls are finished, now it’s time to decorate with pretty pillows, wall decor and unique furniture. Here is what Sharon used to add character and charm for her space.
Supplies:
635534 IMPERIAL GARDEN (1 for the table and 1/2 for the canvas) 636913 FUCHSIA SUNSET (about 1/2 of one) 633882 PILLOWCASE
Other: Blank Canvases-18 x 24 inches, Pillow Fill for 12 x 12 cover
I decided to try the table first, applying the Imperial Garden transfer on the top, cutting it to fit, and bringing some design down to the sides. Use the left-overs for this part as you cannot see it as clearly as the top. Seal with a clear furniture wax…
“Next I decided to replace the art on the wall as the grey wood wall needed more color. I purchased two 18"x24" canvases and went to town using about 1/2 of another Imperial Garden transfer and 1/2 of the Fuschia Sunset transfer. I wanted a lot of flowers, so these two worked perfectly together. (Seal the canvases with Krylon matte spray.) “…
“Finally i decided I needed one more piece for the room. [re]design textiles are so soft and perfect for transfers. The pillow will have light use, but it will still need to be prepared and sealed. Wash, dry and iron. Apply a coat of Fabric Mod Podge and allow to dry. Add the transfer to the pillow, then add another coat of the Fabric Modge and allow to cure. (I expect the transfer to crackle a bit as the fabric moves, but I think that adds to the charm of my new fluffy pillow.)”…
“I love how everything turned out...from the (really old, ugly duckling) table which is now a beautiful swan, to the canvas frames on the wall, to my fluffy stuffed pillow!” ~Sharon Laakkonen
